Blur bodyguard left gun in Starbucks, UK

with 2 comments

Another interesting news from the UK – this time, a top class bodyguard left her gun while doing “business” in the toilet of the cafe. And it was a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol.

And guess what, this blur girl (er…or more like lady since she’s in her 30s) used to be Tony Blair’s (he’s the former Prime Minister of UK, in case you’re wondering) close protection officer and also a member of SO1 – the group responsible for the personal safety of the UK PM.

*Sighs* She must be quite an absent-minded person to make such a mistake. Or maybe something else was bothering her at that time. Kinda pity her, since her career as a SO1 member would surely end after this incident.

Fortunately, there were nobody or small kids who found the gun and played with it. :| I wouldn’t want to go into a Starbucks with a kid (especially a kid who plays Grand Theft Auto) pointing a gun at people without knowing it’s a real gun.

London Olympic 2012: What kind of grand opening should we expect?

with 8 comments

The Beijing Olympic 2008 is finally over. I must say that it has been a very good performance from everyone involved, particularly the host nation China. The opening and closing ceremonies were very very nicely done, the best ever for a sporting event…. especially the fireworks. Donno how much $$ they’ve spent and how much ozone layer they’ve destroyed with the pollution.

After seeing the opening and closing (especially the opening) ceremonies, one would wonder how will London fare in 2012? China has, without a doubt, raised the level of the Olympic event to a very very high level…..and it will be very very difficult to do better than that.

If you’ve watched the closing ceremony, you would’ve noticed that there were some simple performances by the UK folks….the bus (which became a transformer later on), the bus stop (you get a lot of those in London), the people dancing around (typical musical-styled performance…described by my friends as “very London”), Leona Lewis performing (didn’t really get what she sang though), David Beckham (?!?!? and he’s not even playing in UK anymore. Better ask Rooney or Gerrard or Terry) and the famous guitarist Jimmy Page (which looks like our PM “Pak Lah”).

And after the performance, I am very sure that most of you have the same feelings as I do – What the heck ?! Cannot even understand what are they doing….so messy!

But rest assure, UK’s PM Gordon Brown has said that their plan for Olympic 2012 is not going to be too artistic in order to appeal to more people. Well, London is known to be very rich…so…we’re going to expect a very good performance from them…….. but…….here’s a quote from an article in Mirror.

The PM believes a line-up of rock legends such as Elton John, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones will provide a glittering celebration of Britain’s talent.

A Downing Street source said: “Gordon Brown is determined to put on the biggest and best rock show the world has ever witnessed.”

Ok…rock concert…. i thought it’s going to be as “cultural” and “artistic” and “heart-warming” and “grand” as the Beijing Olympic 2008. But…ROCK CONCERT? =_= Maybe they should ask the likes of Linkin Park, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton to perform as well ? OK OK…they are not from the UK.

OHHHHHHH Now I’ve realized! The UK PM is trying to lower our expectations by making that announcement! You know…great expectations come great disappointments. So after seeing this article, I will NOT have much expectation for the Olympic 2012. :T

No more popcorn in UK cinema?

with 4 comments

Another piece of interesting news from the country with the most expensive currency in the world – UK.

Popcorn has always been very popular among cinema-goers…since long long time ago. But now, more and more cinemas in the UK are banning popcorn. Why? Because the “extreme” movie-goers are complaining that the “crunchy” sound and the smell of the popcorn are rather distracting for them….making them unable to fully enjoy the movie.

Someone even gave an example of watching a very touching movie like “Titanic”, and when he/she was about to cry…….the smell of popcorn somehow stopped him/her from crying….kinda like spoiling the mood. Quite a funny exaxmple.

To be honest, I’ve never experienced anything like that before. I was quite annoyed with the smell of sausages/hotdogs….but not popcorn. But the thing which i’m most annoyed of……..there are 3 actually – noisy kids, mobile phones and shaky legs….giving u “motion chair” kinda feeling.

That’s why I don’t really understand why they want to ban popcorn. If those fussy people don’t want to smell the popcorn, then they should just get a blu-ray disc or DVD and watch at home. =_= With something which doesn’t smell much like popcorn to be banned….. I really wonder what will happen to other stuff like cheese-flavored chips, onion-flavored chips….hotdogs…. ? Maybe it’s better for the cinema not to sell any food at all.

Let’s hope the cinemas in Malaysia don’t do that….. popcorn is nice, you know? And cinema is the only place where i’ll buy a popcorn. No cinema in popcorn means no popcorn for me at all.

Will we see robots in London Olympic 2012?

with 6 comments

After watching most part of the Beijing Olympic‘s opening….i must say… Hands Down to China. They show us what hard work and constant efforts can do……. near perfect synchronization!

And now..i’m watching the last lap of the flame relay……. i was like … :O :O :O Respect China! Very meaningful and artistic and very very unique indeed!

Hmm……. what should London do in 2012? :| Use robots to beat the synchronization?  I think that’s the only way they can do those synchronization thingy.

And the fireworks…… how can anyone beat China to this grand opening ?!

p/s….. The ASTRO guy said something funny at the end of the show…. “Enjoy the spectacular scenes from the famous bird’s nest stadium. And make sure you yourselves get some bird’s nest” =_= So weird ! I thought he was going to say “get some rest to prepare for the many events to come” or something.
