Can’t find a job? Maybe it’s due to your attitude?
If you are a fresh graduate, are you worried that you will not be able to find a job during this recession period? Or if you are an experienced professional, are you worried to change job since the new job might not be that stable? Or if you’re one of the unfortunate people who got retrenched, do you find it difficult to find job out there?
During such recession period, there are still ample of jobs out there but to be honest, the good paying jobs are quite limited. Every business is trying to cut cost and some are trying to reduce their total workforce. But that doesn’t mean there’s not enough job for everyone.
There is. It’s just a matter of whether you want it or not. It might not pay you that well, and it might not give you the benefits you used to have, or it might not give you the things your other friends get from their employers…but it is still a job. And when one is really desperate, any job will suffice, even as a newspaper delivery boy (man). Because a penny earned, is always better than Z-E-R-O.
That’s why when people start complaining about there’s no job and start asking the government to help them, maybe they should think about it a little. There ARE jobs out there but are they willing to take those jobs? Or do they think they are too “high-class” for such jobs? Or more realistically, are their current commitments too much for those low-income jobs to support and that is why they don’t want to take those jobs…and instead opt to complain?
When one wants to find an excuse of not doing something (such as finding a job), he or she will come out with a lot of nonsense stuff. I’ve met people like that before. But in my opinion, there are still a lot of opportunities out there. It’s just that some of them require a lot of hard work but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
At the end of the day, it is all about the attitude. Are you the type who likes to complain without taking any action on anything else…or are you the type who prefer to stop complaining and take the appropriate action? Which one do you prefer? One might bring you some results, while the other won’t.
It’s your choice.

Well said, I also agree that some people do complain too much because they are choosy about the jobs available out there. Sometimes we have to understand that beggers can’t be choosers!

Just don’t come complain to people or beg the government to help them when their $$ have dried up.
If they are very confident that they can land a very good job, then by all means, leave those vacancies to other people who need them more.

As long as it can cover our commitments, I don’t see any harm to go for a pay cut. Hope you’ll do really well in your new job.
Yeap, a penny earned is always better than ZERO. There are times when we just cannot be choosy because it’s a matter of survival.

Yeah, there are some graduates who do go in with such a sense of entitlement. It’s not that common thankfully, but there was that Trina Thompson who tried to sue her college when she wasn’t inundated with graduate jobs. I suspected it was her attitude that was damaging her as much as anything.
To be honest, I don’t think the degree matters very much. It’s more about the person and what makes them up.

degree does matter if there are a lot of candidates to filter.

Sometimes but there were a lot of candidates going for my sister’s job and she was the one who got it. Despite having a 2:2 in a subject that’s often looked down on.
A lot of it is about making your degree work for you, no matter what you got.

I think degree is only good for you to be selected for interview. Your performance during the interview will determine whether you get a job. There’s no point hiring a PHD who can’t even answer simple questions or a CGPA 4 fresh graduate who is showing very bad attitude.
