Be picky with your job
Companies, especially the good ones, conduct all kind of tests in order to select the right candidates. Some even have more than 3 interviews just to ensure their candidate is the perfect one, the chosen one. And yet, their success rate is not 100%. Far from that.
But that is their rights, the rights to be picky when selecting candidates.
The thing is, sometimes we as employees do have the rights to be picky too. And that is crucial. Don’t because some friends of yours told you company A is good, and you will believe it even though you don’t feel good at all during the interview(s). Always believe in gut feel. Interview session is for the employer to test you, and also for you to test the employer.
I know that the current job market is not that stable, but finding yourselves in the wrong (and new) job is worse than staying with your current “okay” job.
So, make sure you choose wisely (unless you are jobless. That will mean that you don’t have much of a choice to be picky).
p/s…. if you already have a job and your boss asking you to do something outside your job scope. Sometimes, it pays to be flexible and less picky. Show a good attitude and you will be remembered. Be too picky when your boss needs your help, and you will be remembered too – for being inflexible.

I used to tell my friends to vet a company first before they join. Most say I should learn to think more positively. So its kinda hard when they come back to me a year later with long faces looking for another job…

Some companies do indeed abuse employees’ flexibility. I think it’ll be up to the employees to decide how flexible can they be. Too flexible and they might cause more problem to their future career path. Too inflexible, it might cause their bosses to minus mark for them.

No harm to think more positively. But there’s no harm to do some research beforehand. Jumping into a bottomless pit will kill you no matter how positive you are.
Dude, I think it’s important not to resign before you get another job… Important message from TZ :-p
It’s not easy to get a good job after you gave away your job … :-> Anyway, I was in a different situation as my previous company has closed down its operation in Central Malaysia. So i was forced to go … :-p
Now, I’m in Kampala, Uganda… I was lucky enough to get this job but also waited for quite sometime … sigh!
So How picky u wanna to be ??? you could make your own decision… hopefully a right decision eh!

Yeap. It’s very risky nowadays if you were to resign w/o a job.
I think important thing is to keep your current job, and search (and research) around for better opportunities. Or when a company approaches you, it is better to think and check properly…or even go to the interview. Then you can decide whether it is good enough for you or not. Else you simply jump, also die.
Some people too ‘cin cai’ and just go for the good paying job even though they don’t feel good with the interviewer during the interview.
