Kick away the ‘bad’ people from our lives

with 2 comments

I was having ‘rojak’ or mixed fruits today with my parents (yea yea, I know I should not be eating any of those food since I’m on a high cholesterol alert. I just took the fruits…ok, maybe few chips, but that’s all!). My father was telling me that he requested the seller to put the gravy into another packet in order not to ‘soften’ the chips (crackers or keropok), but the seller replied “That will cost you 1 dollar extra”. My father got frustrated, paid and left.

When he told me about this, I wasn’t surprised at all since there are a lot of such KL food sellers with such idiotic attitude. However, they (the sellers) do not realize that consumers are the king now since they are equpped with their 2 most powerful tools – Internet and word-of-mouth. There was this incident near Genting Highlands where this food seller charged extremely expensive on few Singaporean tourists. In the end, the Singaporean tourists went back and told their friends, posted on the Internet and certain tourist web sites. The shop closed down within 6 months.

Similarly with certain clients. Although consumers/clients are the king now, there are still some idiots among them. These idiots will demand a lot and always think they are right. Some of them will pay for a $1000 product, but demand for $3000 worth of free services. When things like this happened, it is important to remain neutral or even friendly with them. But it is also important for you to get out from that situation as soon as possible. Keep a good relationship with them, but stop wasting your time too. Focus on other more important and less unreasonable clients.

What about employers and bosses? Same thing applies. If there’s an idiotic colleague who always laughs at your shortcomings or a boss who discourages and demotivates you, then shut them out of your lives (unless they are teaching you how you should improve yourselves).

Now, after all these talks, I start to wonder – we have review sites about food sellers, restaurants, clinics, hospitals, companies but why don’t we have any review site on bosses and people? Hmmm….
