Lee Chong Wei lost in Olympic 2008…. pity him
Just finished watching the badminton final match. It was a very very bad match for LCW, to be honest. He was completely out of sort. But Lin Dan, his opponent, played a near-perfect game. Lin Dan only made a few mistakes, compared to LCW’s tonnes of mistakes.
I don’t blame LCW for the lost. He tried his best but it was quite obvious he was under tremendous pressure. He didn’t even play his own game.
But kudos to Lin Dan for his near-perfect game, his understanding of LCW’s game (notice how many times he waited for LCW’s return in front of the net?), and China team’s tactic in the semi final. LCW and the korean player looked very very tired after the strenuous semi final match. On the other hand, Chen Jin and Lin Dan’s match was pretty relaxing for both of them. Maybe that, also played a part in Lee Chong Wei’s defeat.
Ah well, defeat is a defeat. Lee Chong Wei did his best. We were hoping for a better fight…….and even though the outcome was pretty disappointing, it was still a silver medal. Better than the rest of the Olympic squad from Malaysia. =_=
Let’s hope our country can do BETTER (x 1000000) in Olympic 2012.
p/s…. you can see how disappointed LCW was at the award presentation. Aih, pity him also.

True, the pressure was really hard on Chong Wei. He probably got lots of SMSes from people urging/telling/forcing him to get the gold medal. He wasn’t interviewed by the media but still he knows Malaysians put high hopes on him.
He surely tried his best. Lin Dan was a killer player. He’s really, really good!

Yes, I just watched that too. I think he is really under pressure and probably too many supporters from China.

Lin Dan was playing very very well and with the entire stadium behind him, it was indeed an uphill task from the start. Furthermore, Lin Dan knows LCW’s game. Not a very good match.
Still, he did us all proud by giving our country a silver medal. Without him, our country might come empty handed in this Olympic.

Yea, you can see the disappointment in his eyes during the prize giving ceremony. He didn’t even dare to look up to the audience. aih.
He should be more proud of himself. A lot of Malaysians are proud of him.

Coz the opponent was Lin Dan. If against Chen Jin, i think LCW still has a chance. Nvm, he tried his best, better than a lot of other Malaysian rep…they didnt look like they’ve tried.

Yeah I agree. I’m still proud of his efforts by making it to the gold medal match. I don’t blame him for losing. It happens. Well done on silver! It was a thrill to see a Malaysian get so close to a gold medal.
Now that LCW has been in a gold medal match, hopefully he will learn to prepare himself mentally if he tries again in 2012. He has beaten Lin Dan before, he can do it again.
