Today, there was an emergency in the basement area of PETRONAS Twin Towers (Maybank and gym area). By the time I reached the ground floor of Tower 2, there were already a lot of tourists waiting outside, near the lobby area. At that time, I did not know what actually happened.
But when I was about to enter the “office area”, I walked pass few security guards blocking off the entrance to the basement or lower ground…. which is also the entrance to the skybridge.
And guess what, I overheard one of the guards telling the tourists to go away, cannot enter, this is emergency or something which sounded very harsh and impolite. The first thing which came to my mind at that moment was ……..this guard could not speak proper English and the tourists he was facing at that time were not from English-speaking countries. Still, it did not give him the permission to be so rude.
When I reached the office, another colleague of mine who arrived earlier than me was talking about the incident downstairs. He, too, told us that 1 of the guards was quite impolite and rude to one of the tourists at the time he arrived.
The Twin Towers management team should really look into this properly. Tourism industry has always been very important in our country and having such security guard behaving rudely towards tourists will not help much in promoting tourism.

haha, yea. been working there for 2 years now
Tell me about it… last Saturday i encountered another incident… A tourist got scolded when he tried to buy a train ticket from the counter, I pity the tourist whom have some problem of getting ticket from the machine and tried to explain his difficulty. This lady just raised her voice and scared the tourist away… I was so tempted to scold the counter lady but since the tourist was just walked away. I decided to keep quiet… I should have talked to her manager…
Now i know why Malaysia is not a popular place for vacation… *sigh*
@ TZ
To be honest, KL is just like the capital of some third world countries when it comes to tourism. When i was in London, Rome and Barcelona…..the staff at the train stations were very very helpful whenever I asked them something (among the 3, i must say London was the worst bunch….but typical Londoners were quite friendly). that’s why tourists love to go to these places. But Malaysia….? =_= maybe those at the ticket counters in tourist spot are nice.
That’s why IMO, the mgmt shld actually assign those friendly staff to communicate with the tourists
