Why employees don’t dare to speak out in meeting
Are shorter guys smarter?
Note: This is a random debate between me and a friend of mine. It has no backing or proof from any medical results or medical specialists. What we discussed…err….were our opinions…that’s all. No offence intended on anyone who is short or tall.
Today my friend and I chat online. He’s a good friend of mine, my so-called buddy who is also my colleague. Here’s our conversation (i’m currently working on another comic…and since this conversation is too long for me to draw into a comic, i’ll just write it down here in dialog format).
B : Eh, how are you and that girl?
A : Which girl?
B : Aiyo, that 1 la. You and her sound and look very close.
A : Ohh, that one ah. Good friends only ler. She got BF one.
B : Wah, like that you still dare to go near her? Later her BF kills you.
A : Erm…good friends only wor. You think people like you meh, think so much?
B : Nolar, some guys very easy jealous 1 leh. You better be careful la, later he set a trap for you, then you die.
A : Aiyo, i’m not so stupid la. Her BF very tall 1…and me so short…they said short people are smarter.
B : WTF? Where did that come from ?!
A : You donno? I’ve read it from a news. They, the medical experts (ok, i heard from somewhere but it’s most probably Bullshit by another person) said that most of the protein used are for the tall people to grow tall. And short people used the protein to grow their brain. That’s why short people are supposed to be smarter lor.
B : Ohh…makes sense. Kinda same like for ladies lo. ************** (you make your own wild guess la)
A : Erm…that one i don’t know. But I know when i was a kid, my mum kept asking me to eat more beans…source of protein…so i can grow taller.
B : Looks like that attempt failed la. You’re not tall at all.
A : I know lah. But i feel i am smart what. Maybe the protein went to the brain instead.
B : Nolar, i think you and me same 1. Maybe slightly smarter la…..but most of the proteins went to our stomach.
A : =_=”"”"”
Ok, to be honest…i did read that somewhere…but i’m not sure whether it’s a bullshit crap from someone…or is it based on a medical research. I only know that tall people do give a better sense of security and confidence. That’s why most of the leaders in the western countries are TALL PEOPLE. But they’re not the smartest.
Conclusion, maybe the proteins do play a part…….or maybe they don’t.
p/s…. for my non-Malaysian readers, sorry for the broken English. It’s the Malaysian version of English…called Manglish.
p/s…. A above means Alvin …me. B is my friend.
Hatred leads to suffering…
Is there someone that you really hate? Someone you hope you’ve never met before…or someone who you wished for all the world’s misfortunes to fall upon him. Cruel eh? Maybe not that bad…but surely, there is someone who u kinda hate in life……be it ur boss, your friends, siblings, relatives, or just a stranger who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But will it make you feel better to hate someone? Short term…yes…it might help you feel more ‘satisfied’ especially if that “enemy” of yours suffers something bad. But NO…in the long run, it won’t help you feel good. Even if the person got erased from this world, what good will it bring for you? If you hate him, u most probably won’t even talk or go near to him…….so erasing him from this world, logically speaking, wouldn’t have any impact on you.
Honestly, i think you’ll feel more tired and more disturbed by hating somoene……than actually ignore the person. If you ignore him, you can use your attention and time on other more useful stuff …….or better, invest the time n efforts on people who are more worthy of your time. If you hate someone, in order to keep that hatred, you will need to have that person always in your mind………constantly. Isn’t that disturbing?
Furthermore, there could’ve been some hidden reasons as to why that person did that “something” which made you hate him. I believe if you hated him so much, you wouldn’t even care to ask! And to make things worse, some people wouldn’t even care to explain themselves.
So there you go……hating someone for the rest of your life without knowing if that person is really wrong.
Well, all i can say is, if that person used to be someone you know, just let it go. You can choose not to talk to the person…..but just let the hatred goes away slowly.
If it is someone…maybe a criminal… who you hardly know….hating him will not bring him to justice. Just leave it…and hope that the police will bring him to justice. There’s nothing you can change even if you hate him with all your heart.
Hope it helps.
p/s….. i used to hate this friend of mine in primary school. He betrayed my friendship by submitting my name to the teacher as one of the students involved in a fight or something. And i didn’t do it. I cried…not because i was scared, but because i was betrayed. And i hated him for few years…and i felt terrible. Now, we’re good friends again. It’s funny how a simple misunderstanding can generate so much hatred.
p/s…. in form 3, a friend of mine said something which offended me. I chose not to talk to him…and with the help of some troublemakers, our misunderstanding evolved into a cold war. We didn’t talk for more than 1 year. In the end, i made the first move and now, we’re good friends again. True, during that period, i hated him for being so childish. But i should’ve realized that i myself, was behaving childishly.
Lead a worthwhile but simple life ….
This is a personal post about myself, my dreams & ambitions….and how much I’ve changed in the last 10 years.
When I was a kid, people would tell me that I’m going to be a successful person and I’m going to start my own business…be my own boss…and most importantly, be rich. Yes, people (relatives and family friends) have been telling me that even when I was just 4 or 5 years old.
When I was in secondary school, people would tell me that I’m going to be my own boss, and again..be rich. Until one point that I myself started telling my heart that i am going to be rich. I will become the next Alvin Pintu-Pintu (a.k.a. Bill Gates of Malaysia) and have my own office building…… Yes, you got that right – my own office building. That WAS my dream back then.
Since then, I’ve been thinking about that dream without even thinking how to actually get there in the first place. But people change with time……things do change as well. I’ve changed.
The Alvin now, just want a simple life (and i used to think that those who want a simple and easy life are actually wasting their life away….how foolish i was back then). But I also want a life worth living.
I don’t need to be THAT rich or to have my own building. Those are the definitions of success from other people. My current definition of success is to have a meaningful life which contribute to the society by doing what I am passionate about. Maybe that’s why I am thinking of venturing into the creative works industry – game design, animation, arts, story-telling, etc.
I no longer need those big houses, big cars, big office buildings (though they are nice to have…but having them don’t guarantee happiness in my life)…..i would rather have the ability to leave a positive mark in the society then having all that.
Maybe some people would call me foolish…. but as Steve Jobs said “Stay hungry, stay foolish”. It’s not that bad
People like to feed on their negative feelings
Let’s face it, human beings are more attracted to negative news than positive ones. If you’re a blogger, try posting topics on the depression…or the hopeless state of the politics….or the price hike….or anything which is making the world sounds pretty hopeless. And guess what, you’ll get a lot of visitors to your blog.
We tend to find people to agree with us. Rather than finding people who are more positive-minded, we look for people who are negative-minded so that we can complain “together” with them.
But that does not solve anything – nothing at all. Yet, why do people want to do it? Don’t you think it gets a bit tiring complaining about all the stuff in the world which you can find no solution?
I’m one who does not like negative news. I don’t like to read about the hopeless state of the politics or the price hike on food… etc. To me, it’s too demotivating esp during the start of the day. It’s good to know, but it’s not a MUST to know. You can call me ignorant or being oblivious……but that’s me. I prefer to look into things i can change.
Maybe…just maybe…people should learn to be more positive-minded and lead a happier life? Life is short, do you really want to complain about things you cannot change for the rest of your life? Or would you rather look at the world from another perspective?
p/s…. and for those people who always search for “how to get revenge on your boss?”…yea, i do get a lot of those EVERYDAY. Your best bet is to check the labor law department. If they cannot do anything, then you can’t do much as well. Malaysia don’t really have a strong labor law thingy. Good luck.
p/s…. if you want to complain about things, then make sure you can do something to change. If the ball is not in your court, then there’s nothing much you can do. You can kick, hit, jump all you want…..but you won’t be able to hit or touch it.
p/s…. sorry for not being able to produce any comic strips lately. been very very busy. rushing something for the UK counterpart….already under heavy fire from them.
p/s…. HINT HINT, there will be a Junior Manga Competition held by a local magazine and co-sponsored by MDEC. The prizes are quite good. I’ll post up more on this later once I get more information. I’m one of the judges by the way.
